Caring for our Own

Dying at Home, Caring for a Body after Death, Home Funerals, & Green Burial Choices - A Community Death Care Workshop

November 8th, 1 - 4 p.m., Albany Town Hall

Many of us enjoy attending our local Death Cafes, either once in a while or on a regular basis. We’ve gotten more comfortable talking about our grief, our advance care planning, our experiences, and our fears about what will happen.

But what is community death care? How might we grow our movement beyond talking about grief and death and dying? How can more of us become able to help provide actual care and support when someone is dying?

The dying process can be very isolating. Often, people’s choices aren’t honored because their loved ones aren’t able to do the things they want to happen. What if you could call on neighbors and community members to walk with you through the process?

Anna Balivet Jordan, of the Home Funeral Alliance, will bring her experiences as an after-death care specialist, celebrant, and funeral director to the Albany Town Hall on November 8th.

Anna will share her practical experience and knowledge to help us step into the vision of a corps of community members who are willing and able to support their neighbors as death occurs and after, not just with words, but with action.

Join us at the Albany Town Hall, 827 Main St., Albany, VT on November 8th, from 1-4 pm.

There will be a presentation, discussion, and hands-on workshop in body care after death …. oh, and snacks and time to chat in between!
